A Powerful Prayer May 30 2022
“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding …” Colossians 1:9 (ESV)

Have you ever had the feeling that your prayers aren’t “powerful enough”?

When I was a young Christian, I envied those who prayed in big words and used Bible verses. They sound so powerful. As I grew in my faith, I realized that prayer isn’t only about how long or what words you say. It’s all about the desire to pray and communicate with God. Prayer must be a way of life, not just a religious obligation.

Paul never stopped praying for others, even though he had never met them in person. While in prison, he learned of the believers in Colossae through Epaphras, a Colossae preacher. Paul prayed they would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (v. 9).

More than the health, provision, and blessing we pray for a person, the secret to a powerful prayer is a sincere and passionate heart for people to also know Christ and have a relationship with Him. It comes from a heart overflowing with love for people and a strong desire for them to come to know Christ as their Savior.

Today, who can you pray for?
