A Simple Cure!

Today's Daily Devotion - April 26 2022

By Dr. George Ceremuga

Go and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will heal, and you will be clean. - 2 Kings 5:10

Naaman, the highly esteemed and respected Syrian commander, was a leper. An enslaved Jewish girl and herself a prophet was the servant of Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “If only my master would present himself to the prophet in Samaria, he would be cured of his leprosy.” So, like any wise husband, he listened to his wife and set out taking money, festive garments, and a letter from the King of Aram, “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you, that you may cure him of his leprosy” (v. 6).

When the prophet Elisha’s simple cure was to wash seven times in the Jordan, Naaman felt angered and shortchanged. He wanted a more dramatic and specialized treatment. You see, it was all about Naaman and not about the healing power of God. We’ve all felt something of Naaman’s desperation with our own relationships, sin patterns, and physical, emotional, and spiritual illnesses. God knows exactly what you need to be complete and whole—and it does not need to be complicated or messy. It all starts with seeking the one who specializes in brokenness.

Jesus, I need, trust, and love you!
