A True Friend

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. — Proverbs 27:6
I have constant friends who are just a message away if I feel low, anxious, or frustrated. They are those who are prepared to listen without passing judgment, who are generous in offering comfort and godly advice, and who give loving correction when necessary. I think we could all use some reliable friends like that. A true friend who will correct us out of love; it may hurt us temporarily, but it serves our long-term interests. This characterizes a genuine friend. Although the correction might not feel pleasant, it will show a friend’s loyalty and devotion.
Find a reliable envoy who will share God’s truth and pray to bring about the healing that leads to repentance and life. Sincere friends hurt each other when the truth is spoken. They rebuke, warn, and correct each other not for selfish reasons, but to help us all reach our potential. These loyal acts of affection are priceless. Be humble enough to listen to them when they needed to correct us out of love.
Jesus is our genuine friend!
