Agents of Hope

“Give it to the people to eat. For this is what the LORD says: They will eat and have some left over.’”

2 Kings 4:43

Read 2 Kings 4:42-44

Elisha was a rescue worker whom God used to turn lack and drought into times of abundance and shalom. He helped free a woman from debt, provide a son to a family, and restore that son to life again. Through the grace of God, he purified a well of water and also a bowl of broth, and fed so well a hundred hungry people with twenty loaves of barley that there were leftovers.

In utter destruction and suffering, Elisha could see beyond and above what God had intended instead. What keeps Him going and standing firm in the faith is his hope in God.

How are we living as a witness to God’s love and goodness? God wants to use us to bring the message of hope to this world, despite all its imperfections and brokenness. We are to share with our neighbor the hope that is in Jesus Christ, the hope that brings new life, freedom, peace, justice, and forgiveness.

Let us be carriers of God's promise that brings hope for those who have no.
