Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion. - Isaiah 52:1
Read Isaiah 52
This is the third time Isaiah mentioned, “Awake, awake…” from the previous chapter wherein people are waking God up thinking that God is asleep (Isaiah 51:9). On the second awakening, it is about asking Jerusalem to remember the Lord’s judgement and promises. And on the third awakening, God is telling Zion to put on strength because He has prepared a bright future for them. They thought God is the one who needs to be awakened to act on their situation, where in fact, it is they who needs to open their eyes and be awakened.
There are really times when we slumber in our faith. Like Jerusalem, we sometimes think that God is sleeping, and He is not doing anything that’s why there are still people in pain, hurting, starving, and dying. We cannot change the circumstance or the season we are in, but we can change our perspective. We can look at our situation with eyes of faith, declaring the promises of God even though it seems impossible at the moment. God will give us strength and will sustain us as He helps us go through our season.
Let us depend on the unfailing and unchanging character of God. Who is God in your situation right now?
Where is your strength coming from?
