Be A Doer of the Word!

So faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. - James 2:17
I recently remarked to a friend that I enjoy reading the book of James for the practical day to day advice. He said with a smile, “You like it because it is a short book with only five chapters.” Well, there is some truth in that. Please allow me to share some of my favorite James verses:
Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, and even slower to anger (1:20).
But be doers of the word and not hearers only (1:22).
You shall love your neighbor as yourself (2:8).
Merciless is the judgment on the man who has not shown mercy; but mercy triumphs over judgment (2:13).
Be assured, that faith without works is as dead as a body without breath (2:26).
The harvest of justice is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace (3:18).
Therefore, submit to God: resist the devil and he will flee. Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you (4:7-8).
Remember this: the person who brings a sinner back from his way will save his soul from death and cancel a multitude of sins (5:20).
Just imagine James writing these verses while witnessing the magnificent healing power of love and forgiveness as Jesus Christ was spreading the gospel of salvation. Indeed, thank you James for a succinct, action-packed book that is full of reminders to lead with Love!
The power of Love is God!
