Be Holy
14 Day Mindfulness Moments – Day 4 Daily Devotion
Be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, am holy. Leviticus 19:2
God, said to Moses, “Be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, am holy.”
In today’s liturgical scripture, God reminds us that we are responsible to share his love with others. He reminds us not to bear hatred for our brothers and sisters, reprove with love, take no revenge and cherish no grudge. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord (V.17-19). Love is the operative word and necessitates “action.”
Then in Mathew’s gospel, Jesus reminds us not to take an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Instead, offer no resistance to one who is evil. Give to the one that asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. So, in Jesus’s name, we pray for those who persecute us and wrap them in the white light of Love. There is no safer place. As we are made in God’s image, strive to be Holy and Perfect (V. 5:38-48). For that is the will of God.
