Read Psalm 101
In a fallen world and fallen human nature, how easy can it be to live a blameless life? Whenever I hear or read the word “blameless,” Jesus is the only one who comes to mind. 1 Peter 1:19 says, “But with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”
David, the Psalmist, for sure knows that to live a sinless life is not easy. David himself has committed actions and decisions that are not godly. But perhaps he knows that whenever we acknowledge God first and when we sing of God’s love and justice, it is possible to live a blameless life. Not because of our strength and will power, but because it is God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit who can help us carefully lead a blameless life.
We are already made righteous because of what Jesus did on the cross. With that truth, may we have a change of perspective that to live for God is not about performance. We are already righteous in Jesus and there is nothing we can add to it anymore.
Lord, help me to have nothing to do with what is evil.
