Cast Your Worries on the LORD

On January 2, 2022, I lost my phone while at the amusement park with my family. Then two days after, I woke up with a terrible body pain. That same day, my temperature increased to almost 102°F with severe headache and chills. We undergo Covid testing the next day and my daughter and I were both positive. It was frustrating. The new year has only just begun, yet so many unfavorable events have already occurred in less than a week. I wondered why God had allowed all of this to happen. I suddenly felt like my prayers for protection and covering were not enough.

I just poured out my emotions to God at that moment because I knew it wouldn’t intimidate him. I cried out to Him, believing He would comfort me afterwards. We listened to a daily verse podcast before bed that day, and the verse was Psalm 55:22, Cast your worries on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. The verse came at the perfect time. It was a really reassuring response from God. He knows I am preoccupied with a series of matters, including my misplaced phone, pending job duties, our health, chores, and so on. But God says I should cast them all to Him and He will sustain me.

Sometimes the surrounding events suffocate us. We become so preoccupied with our circumstances that we forget we have a great God who can carry all of our burdens and fill us with His Holy Spirit, power, and strength.

I hope you’ll be reminded today that no matter how huge your worries are, you can bring them to the foot of the cross and surrender them all to Him who is all-powerful and all-greater.
