Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! - Philippians 4:4
Read Philippians 4:2-9
In Paul’s concluding encouragement and thanksgiving on his letter for the Christians in Philippi, he calls for reconciliation, joyful faith, and disciplined thinking. He encouraged the believers, with emphasis, to rejoice in the Lord. In the MSG version, it says, “Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him!”
In the following verses, Paul says God is at hand. This is one of the major reasons we can rejoice in the Lord. How are we supposed to celebrate while going through tough times? “Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life (v. 6-7 MSG).”
Those who take refuge in God will be glad and sing for joy. Luke 10:20 also says, “rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” We can celebrate not because of the blessings or answered prayers. We can always be filled with joy in the Lord alone, in His presence in our lives.
Lord, help me celebrate today! Help me rejoice in Your name!
