Darkness Is as Light to God

Read Psalm 139

In yesterday’s devotion, I shared that there is beauty even in the darkness. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day (Genesis 1:31 NIV). God named the darkness, “night” or “evening” and God said that it was very good. For God, even the dark of the night is very good.

But most of us dislike darkness. Try to recall when suddenly there was a power interruption during the night. All at once, everything was pitch black. We do not move or run right after the power blackout because even though we are very familiar with our own house; the darkness made us unfamiliar with it. The darkness limited our actions.

This is the same when we are in adversity. The trials, worries, and fears we go through limit us. But fear not, for in the darkest moments, God is with us. Even the thickest darkness is not dark to God! The scripture also says the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to God. The difficult situation we are in may be dark in our eyes, but not to God. We can always trust God and his saving hand because his love for us cannot be hindered, even with darkness.
