Do Well

Ecclesiastes 9:10 NLT Daily Devotion Scripture

Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom. — Ecclesiastes 9:10 NLT

In the culture we live in, the worth of our labor is determined by our job title or pay. But God does not see or value our labor in this way. In God’s economy, we work since we were made in his image, who created work and is still actively engaged in it now (John 5:17). Work is about who we reflect anytime we do our work, which is far more than the title or the compensation. Are we reflecting God’s likeness at work, in school, or even while we’re just doing our tasks at home? Whatever our job or responsibility, God has put us there to further His Kingdom and bring about His glory. Work was created by God to suit the needs of his creatures, but it was also made for his glory. Hence, we do well and work heartily not for promotion or to please people, but for the Lord.

Any task you complete with Christ in mind for God’s Kingdom is neither insignificant nor worthless. For God, even doing the dishes is important. There is no small labor in God’s economy. So always do your best at all times for God’s glory and let Him handle the rest.

Do well for the glory of God.
