Excellence!

When Judea was still under the Roman military occupation, any Roman soldier might command a Jew to carry his soldier’s pack for one mile. In today’s scripture, Jesus says to go beyond the one mile prescribed by the law and out of a free choice of love, give another mile.

If we will relate this to what we do either in our work, our chores at home, academics, or even our volunteer work at any ministry, as Christians, we are expected to do everything in excellence. We work the extra mile not when someone is watching. We give our best in whatever we do because it is an act of worship to God and not for promotion. God sees whatever we do and it is God who will promote us and will even open overflowing favors for He delights and blesses excellence. And we can always do more than what is expected out of a free choice of love.
