Facing God

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. - James 4:8

Don’t face Satan by facing Satan. Face Satan by facing God (Max Lucado, God is with You Every Day). Whenever we are tempted to do something that will make us miss the mark, we do not simply face it and tell to ourselves we can do it because God is with us. Instead, the Bible says, “But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11).” Ephesians 6 also says to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it (1 Corinthians 10:13). We already won the battle. We face Satan by facing God, remembering who God is, and remembering His Word. When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He did not answer out of His own knowledge or ability, instead; He proclaims the Word of God—the truth.

The victory is ours.
