"My name will be great among the nations ... For I am a great King," says the LORD. - Malachi 1:11, 14
Read Malachi 1: 6-14
Names are very important. Nowadays, soon-to-be-parents use different baby name sites to have an idea of what name to give to their baby. My new nephew’s second name is “Kibou,” a Japanese word which means “hope.” For his parents, he is evidence of hope despite the crisis we are going through right now.
As God created Israel to become his own people, they were synonymous with his own name. It also stands true to us who are Christians. That’s why it should be our aim that our words, thoughts, and actions will reflect the name of God.
Malachi rebuked the people of Israel because of their disobedience, not honoring and representing the name of God well. However, despite the actions of the Israelites, God remained faithful to His promise when He said “My name will be great among the nations ..i For I am a great King (v. 11, 14).”
How are you giving honor to the name of God?
Lord, help us to live in a way that the people around us will see who your love, mercy, greatness, and sovereignty.
