See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1

Read 1 John 3:1-3

What does it mean for you to know that God loves you? Or have you ever asked God, “Lord, do you really love me?”

Deep within our hearts is the longing to hear words of satisfaction, affirmation, and belonging. Most of the time, we try to search for these words through our jobs, our family, our friends, and sometimes through the social media.

The Scriptures affirm God’s love for us over and over again. Perhaps most of us, if not all, are familiar with John 3:16 which says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Try to look around you. Try to remember when you opened your eyes this morning. Even in the simplest ways, God wants you to know that He loves you.

John encourages us to see what great love the Father has lavished on us. Sometimes we might wonder if a just and holy God will still choose to love us despite our stubbornness and disobedience. The answer is YES. The Scriptures assures us that we are the objects of God’s love, care, and delight simply because we are His children.

Whoever you may be in the past, whatever healing you may need, however broken you may be, nothing can change the love God has for us and nothing can separate us from His love.

We are God’s much-loved children.
