God is Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

In some series or movies I’ve watched before, when the main character is going through difficulties, they usually say the lines “Does God really love me? If He is a good and loving God, why is He letting me go through this?”

John 3:16 is one of the most quoted scriptures that tells us how much God loves us. God’s love is manifested in His acts of kindness. As a mother, I can hardly imagine I will ever be willing to sacrifice the life of my daughter just to save someone else, or should I say, to save an undeserving, sinful, foolish person. But God, because He so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He gave up His only begotten Son (AMPC). This incomparable act of God’s love is for us not to perish in the fires of hell but to spend eternity with Him. God is a holy God, yet He is full of mercy and grace. He is not giving up on us. He will never give up on us. 2 Peter 3:9 ERV says, “The Lord is not being slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He wants everyone to change their ways and stop sinning.

Sometimes we are blinded to see the kindness of God because we fix our eyes on something else, or we are making ourselves the center of our life. We focus on big breakthroughs we seldom recognize that God’s kindness is all around us. Through Jesus Christ, we can now enjoy the free gift of salvation. The scripture says , “…whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We should make a choice.

God’s invitation is always open. What’s your choice?
