God Is on Our Side

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the light and children of the day (V. 4-5). Yes, we are the light of the world. I have said many times, “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. Kindness matters. When I see you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while, you are amazing just the way you are.”

Yet, at times the “evil” voice discourages us from remembering God’s true character. Which voice will you feed? Jesus, talked to God and you can too! Talk to Jesus, my guiding light. Jesus inspires us out of love, not fear. He is in the business of encouragement, building up and saving souls. Jesus knows that the consequences of our sins are punishment enough. He asks us to return to Him with a contrite and repentant heart eager to accept his love and forgiveness.

Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do (V 11). Yes, the apostle Paul is reminding us to “outdo one another in honor.”
