August 31, 2020 Daily Devotion
Recently, I was sitting on our front deck watching our mindfulness moments interview that featured Lakota Elder Richard Sherman. Richard eloquently describes a oneness with all creation in our recent interview. Suddenly, a small chickadee flew into the side of the house and fell to the porch. I immediately went over to the bird and the right wing appeared injured. I placed my hands over the bird and prayed for healing in the name of Jesus Christ.
The bird then appeared to calm down and sit awkwardly on the deck. I continued to pray for this chickadee. I felt moved by the Holy Spirit to call Mr. Sherman and share this event. As I was talking to, the chickadee sat up straight and flew to the porch railing. It seemed to be getting its bearings and then effortlessly flew away.
Even when a bird falls and struggles, God takes note. He also reminds us that we are worth more than an entire flock of sparrows so do not be afraid of anything (V.30). I witnessed God’s healing love.
