“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” - Proverbs 26:12 NIV
Read Romans 2:4-5
Every day, God offers us His riches. Paul speaks of God’s “riches” in the book of Romans as God’s kindness, tolerance, and patience. We think lightly of the riches of God that we still choose to be stubborn and have unrepentant hearts (Romans 2:4-5).
A stubbornly unteachable person who is wise in his own eyes is even hopeless that the situation of a fool man. For parents, if not most of the time, there are several times when we feel frustrated because of the stubbornness of our children. Sometimes they disregard our teachings and act as if they know way better that us. Imagine if God is like us when we get frustrated, worse, get mad to our children. Imagine if God suddenly gave up on us.
Personal dependence to God is necessary for us to grow fruitful and mature. Recognizing our need of God and acknowledging His sovereignty humbles us to lean on God every day. Asking help from God and lifting our burden to Him are not signs of weakness, but wisdom.
What challenge or problem are you dealing with today? Ask God for help today.
God is kind, loving, and patient. Grace, grace.
