Read Psalm 37
Does this mean that God will give all that I want as I continue to delight in Him? According to Merriam-Webster, the word “desire” means strongly wish for or want something. Who would agree that after getting what we want, it makes us get a new set of wants?
Desiring for something and asking it from God is not wrong. However, our scripture today implies more than receiving our own desires and petitions. As we delight faithfully in the Lord, the desires of our hearts change. Meditating on His Word, devoting time with Him, worshiping Him, and praying to Him changes our hearts into wanting and doing what God loves and not what we only want. His ways are becoming our ways, we are becoming Christlike.
