Happy Father’s Day, Son!

As I write this devotion, my son and his wife are expecting their first child due on Father’s Day. We know ultimately our new bundle of joy will be born at the exact day and time that God desires His child to enter the world. We all eagerly awaiting this blessed day. Each morning I read “A Father’s Prayers” in honor of our heavenly Father, my earthly father, and all fathers and father’s to be. I am proud of the man our son has become and this prayer now has special meaning for you as well.

Loving God, Father of us all, I pause this day to ask your blessing on me as a father. Give me your gifts of wisdom, patience, and courage. Guide me in the daily decisions I must make for my family. May I be quick to praise and slow to find fault. Dear God, bless all fathers who have gone to their rest. May they find comfort and joy in your arms.
