He Is Before All Things

And he is before all things, and by him all things exist. — Colossians 1:17
A few weeks ago, I attended daily mass. Just prior to mass we enjoyed a much-needed rain shower. In the church parking lot, I looked down and noticed a praying mantis in its balanced pose. I can’t recall the last time I saw one of these beautiful insects. Nothing is coincidental in God’s Kingdom. The symbolic meaning of this insect reflects patience, stability, meditation, peacefulness, and quietness.
Wisdom emerges when we are still and quiet, sensing and feeling rather than thinking critically. The praying mantis always comes to us when we are internally craving peace, quiet and calm in our lives. This insect is revered for its elegant, mindful, and contemplative movements. They remind us to have patience in acquiring the things we want and to remain balanced throughout the duration of the wait. What a beautiful signal of grace given to me today by God as a reminder to Smile, Breathe, and Love.
Everything comes from God and everything returns to God.
