Hope and Hopelessness
Today's Daily Devotion - August 26 2022

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. — Psalms 146:5
I read a friend’s social post about his father’s health. His mother had also been hospitalized a month before. On the caption, he requested to receive messages of hope. I prayed to God to comfort and strengthen my friend and for his parents’ healing. I also asked God what message He wanted me to send to my friend.
Various studies have been conducted on the significant impact of hopelessness on an individual. Hopelessness has many negative consequences, not only for the individual but also for society. It is a strong emotion that frequently contributes to a dark or depressed mood. Hopelessness can also have a negative impact on how one perceives oneself, other people, personal circumstances, and even the world. Because it reflects an individual’s negative view of the future, hopelessness can have a significant influence on human behavior and may lead to anxiety disorder and depression.
In an imperfect world full of uncertainties, pain, and adversity, one of the most important gifts we can give to others is the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Jesus alone is the gift of hope that this world needs. Let us spread the good news of Jesus Christ and all its hope to others, reminding them that hope exists.
When we share hope, we bring life to others.
