I Am with You Always

"I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:20

Read Matthew 28: 16-20

When Jesus laid the great commission to the church to “go and make disciples,” He knows the disciples will not be able to do it on their own. He gave them a promise that assures them that He will be with them even to the very end of the age.

Change is permanent. If there is one thing that will not change no matter what, that is who God is. In the gospel of John, “I am ” is used in seven profound statements of who Jesus is. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life… I am the Good Shepherd… I am the gate (for the sheep)… I am the light of the world… I am the resurrection and the life… I am the way, the truth, and the life.. I am the true vine.” Jesus is the great I am. The phrase “I am” also implies how personal He is. So when Jesus says “I am with you always,” we can have the assurance that the great I am is the one who will be with us personally, the one who will fight for us, provide for us, bring peace to our hearts, care for us, prosper us, bless us, and love us unconditionally as we obey and do the mission He has for us here on earth.

Are you ready to trust the great I am?

Lord, fill us with your strength to do what you have called us to do.
