The locusts were commanded to do no harm to the grass in the land or to any plant or tree, but only to those men who had not the seal of God on their foreheads. - Revelation 9:4
The sign of the cross is a powerful prayer, in the Catholic Church. This reverent gesture symbolizes our belief in the Holy Trinity, the dual nature of Jesus Christ, and the dependence of our salvation on His crucifixion and resurrection. The sign of the cross or “setting a seal” upon the forehead of those who place their faith in the Lord appears in both the Old and New Testament (Ezekial 9:4, Rev. 7:3, 9:4, and 14:1).
The sign of the cross is performed before meals, prayers, blessings at Baptisms, Ash Wednesday and prior to the gospel reading at mass. You will never be wrong by offering a prayer or blessing at any time in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This symbolic act of reverence keeps the word of the Lord in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts.
Dedicate each day to the glory of God!
