Indescribable!

Read Romans 11:33-36

Included in Paul’s epistle to the Romans is a poem that expresses his amazement to God’s ways and His mercy to mankind. He started by wondering at the three characteristics of God—His extravagant generosity, wisdom, and knowledge.

Our God is stunningly wealthy in all aspects we could imagine. He is rich in wisdom, knowledge, love, kindness, grace, patience, and mercy. Wherever we go, we will see his riches in the vast sky, the mountains, the oceans, and many more. Paul can hardly measure and describe God’s magnificence. In the MSG version, it says that His generosity is way over our heads, we’ll never figure it out, it’s incomparable.

Next is the depth of God’s wisdom and profundity. His judgement is unsearchable and His paths beyond tracing out. He doesn’t need any counselor; He need not review and analyze on things going on our lives. Sometimes we question God, when we think our plans will work better than His, or when we tell God we don’t get it, why He needs to allow certain things to happen. Our wisdom and knowledge is nothing compared to God. Whenever we question God, it is not Him who’s not “getting our point.” We, human, have a lack of ability to grasp why God chooses and allows what He does.

If only we will grasp the truth that everything comes from him, happens through him, and ends up in him, perhaps we will find it easier to rest in His sovereignty and to praise Him.
