Keep Calm, Nothing Lasts Forever
Today's Daily Devotion - February 18, 2021

For everything there is a season... - Ecclesiastes 3:1
In the Great Plains, we are deep in the winter season. As I write this devotion, it is zero degrees with a tranquil soft snow. I am grateful for a warm home, a wonderful family, and our awesome God. This is a perfect day to give to give thanks and praise for God’s unbelievable grace and mercy. Add a cup of herbal tea with raw honey and let it snow, let it snow!
A friend who is the Executive Director of Friends of San Lucas (sanlucasmission.org) shared this poem from John O’Donohue, Irish poet and philosopher which captures this beautiful season:
This is the time to be slow,
Lie low to the wall
Until the bitter weather passes.
Try, as best you can, not to let
The wire brush of doubt
Scrape from your heart
All sense of yourself
And your hesitant light.
If you remain generous,
Time will come good;
And you will find your feet
Again on fresh pastures of promise,
Where the air will be kind
And blushed with beginning.
And a time for every purpose under the heaven.
