Keep Our Eyes on the Prize!

Watching a ballet dancer or gymnast is awe-inspiring. They are so disciplined in holding their body positions and movements flow with gracefulness. We, too, are required to keep that mind, body, and spiritual toughness and discipline free of worldly events. As Paul reassured the Thessalonians to stand firm and hold fast, he was reminding them to keep their focus on the word of God.

Paul’s encouraging words reign true today. “Therefore, brothers and sisters, stand firm. Hold fast to the traditions you received from us, either by our word or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, my God our Father who loved us and, in his mercy, gave us eternal consolation and hope, console your hearts and strengthen them for every good work and word” (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17).
