I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death… -Philippians 3:10
Read Philippians 3:1-14
Do you know God or you only know about God? Knowing God is not the same as knowing about Him. Demons are aware of God’s existence. They are also familiar with the Apostles’ Creed and the Trinity. Knowing God is different. It entails developing a close and personal relationship with Him.
What is the best way for us to have a personal relationship with God? Making a deliberate effort to build a relationship with God entails actively seeking Him out. It differs from convenient relationships significantly. Praying to God alone is not the same as having a relationship with Him. Because for a relationship to work, it needs a two-way street. It means that we communicate with God through prayer and listen to Him through Bible reading—this is true prayer. Knowing God through His Word leads to obedience to His Word, which results in a transformed life. As what 1 John 2:3 says, “And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.” This is how we’ll know whether our relationship with Him is genuine, if it changes us and transforms us into Christ-like people.
Knowing God creates a personal experience with Him and leads to transformation.
