Listen To Me

Have you ever thought to yourself, “If only I would have listened to my parents, none of this would have happened to me”? Or, while watching a movie, you know something horrible is about to happen to the main character, and you become so worked up that you keep shouting at the TV, “Don’t do that!” or “Go in the opposite direction! You’re going to get shot!” as if the characters of the movie will hear you.

The verse has an irony in it when it says, “that My people would listen to Me.” Despite their refusal to listen to God and walk in His ways, God continues to refer to Israel as “My people.” They belonged to God, and He claimed ownership of them.

God’s faithfulness continues to this day. He wants us to listen to Him because His plans are for our good. He loves us and He cares for us. If we choose to listen to God, He longs to bless us and lavish us with His goodness. He longs to provide and satisfy us.
