For sure you have been seeing red hearts lately and different advertisements for the Valentine’s. It is in our nature to desire to be loved and nurtured. There are four types of love in the bible, the romantic love (eros), familial love (storge), brotherly love (philia), and God’s love for humankind (agape).
Jesus taught us to love one another as he has loved us. His love for us is so great that He is willing to lay down His life for us (v. 13). Jesus prays for us to love one another, for the world to believe and for the world to know. He prayed among the believers for peace. God, who seeks the unity of man in Christ, is the God of plurality. With all the divisions happening around the globe, may we always remember to persevere and never stop loving our neighbor as ourselves (Leviticus 19:18). The distinctive mark of the disciples of Jesus must be love. We must approach our differences in the spirit of genuine humility, kindness, consideration, and unselfishness.
Love is the real key to Christian unity.
