Never Give Up

We are surrounded by a great cloud of people whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. - Hebrews 12:1 NCV
Christians were called to faithfulness using pictorial sports imagery as they prepared for the race of life. The fortitude of Christians in the face of hardship and temptation underpins most of the New Testament, which was written in a setting of antagonism, persecution, and the death of their Lord and his disciples.
While my daughter and I were talking about kings and queens who persecuted the believers in the past, I told her how grateful she should be that she grew up in a Christian nation where believers can freely read the Bible, go to church, and praise God. I shared with her that there are still countries nowadays that persecute believers. I’ve even heard stories of missionaries rejected by their own families because of their faith in Jesus.
Christian life is not an easy one. But every bit of painful circumstances is worth it because we have Jesus. With the power of Christ, we can sleep with peace, we can endure no matter what the circumstance, and we can persevere to the end. We are all running our own race. Our focus is not on how tough or long the racing track is, but on the greatest price we can ever have at the finish line, our eternal life with God our Father.
Pray and never give up.
