Our Life Reflects Our Heart

The heart reflects a person’s true nature, just as water reflects a person’s genuine look. While we can hide or reveal our heart through our words and actions, only God can see it in its actual state. We can put as much makeup to cover our blemishes, our sinful life, yet God knows what lies within those coverups.

1 Samuel 16:1-13 says, “The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Our thoughts, words, and actions are the overflow of what is in our hearts. We are to keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Sometimes it is easier to comment on a person’s life without evaluating our own life. It is easy to throw feedback and judgement rather than reflecting on the state of our own heart. How’s your heart? What is in your heart right now?
