Our Lord is Ahead of Us

You prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies. — Psalm 23:5
Read Psalm 23
What a fantastic promise! It seems so simple to claim this promise, but we won’t be able to do so until we find ourselves in a situation of never-ending struggles. When all we perceive are the hurdles to overcome, we fail to recognize who is by our side throughout the road.
The MSG version of Psalm 23:5 says, “You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.” The Psalmist outlined how we should face difficult circumstances with the same pleasure, tranquility, and gratitude with which we would approach a six-course supper in a fine restaurant. Always keep in mind that Satan’s primary function is to steal, kill, and destroy. Our conflict is spiritual rather than physical. When we are spiritually weak, the enemy can deceive us and fill our hearts with frustrations, bitterness, ungratefulness, worry, fears, and anything else that isn’t from God.
God is a God who listens to our prayers. He is a Father who does not turn His eyes away from us. He is a faithful companion who will never abandon us. Despite the hardship, my encouragement for you today is to look up and walk with high hopes and inner serenity. The adversaries are feeble and incomparable in their attempts to keep us from experiencing God’s love and gifts.
We face trials not from defeat, but from victory.
