Our Weapon

Today's Daily Devotion - March 24, 2021

By Khai Samante

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

One context of Paul’s letter to the Corinth is about their acceptance of the false teachers—rebelling against Paul and the gospel. False teachers and false beliefs are still apparent in this day and age. Paul says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds (v. 3-4).” The weapons Paul is referring to include prayer, the Word of God, faith, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Now that everyone is experiencing fear, anxiety, and depression because of the uncertainty of the current global pandemic, many are weak. Our circumstances can easily trigger our emotions and decision making. To fight the manipulative and deceitful ways of this world, we must take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (v. 5).

Whenever we think of things not from the Lord or honoring to the Lord, we must stop our thoughts and take dominion over them in the name of Jesus. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

God’s name is above financial crisis, above depression, above fear, above pandemic, above COVID-19. Let us be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Let us put on the full armor of God, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10-11.)
