Place of Gratitude

Today's Daily Devotion - December 28, 2021

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. — Colossians 2:6-7

Last night, my brother drove my daughter and I to our apartment. He didn’t notice my landlady’s automobile parked outside their house and accidentally hit its bumper while parking our car. I’m still not at peace after apologizing and discussing how to resolve the situation with the landlady. I’m trying to remember what happened and why it happened. A voice was whispering in my ear, asking why God had permitted it to happen. Instead of being stressed and worried about what had transpired, I prayed to God to help me trust Him and worship Him instead.

Christians of different ages and stages confront a variety of challenges. Despite the problems or overwhelming situation around us, the Holy Spirit and scripture lead us to a place of gratitude. The Christian life evolves—receiving Jesus, living in him, being built up in him, and strengthening our faith in him are the first steps. Our heart of thankfulness grow as we have a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His benevolence and Lordship are sufficient reasons to be grateful at all times.
