Pray Every Way You Know How - Daily Devotion

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. - 1 Timothy 2:1 MSG

Paul’s first letter to Timothy is filled with practical suggestions about how to run a local church. Paul’s advice is rooted in the gospel and is meant to promote godliness and spread the message of salvation to all.

Paul is showing what is the true meaning of gospel living–supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings. Paul is asking the believers to pray all kinds of prayer to all sorts of people. He said to pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live (v. 2,3).

I believe ranting and complaining about the government or the current administration specially on social media is not the best option that can solve any issue. The Bible says to pray for them, to pray on behalf of all people (v. 1 NASB). This means to offer supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving even to our enemies. Yes! To the people that we hate or don’t want to give any care at all! Why? Because Jesus gave himself as a ransom for ALL. God’s heart is for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Let’s do our part. There is power in prayer.
