Prayer in Secret - Daily Devotion

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. — Matthew 6:6

We make secret histories with God when we pray in secret. When we pray, Jesus tells us not to be like the hypocrites who love to pray in synagogues and on the corners of streets so that men can see them. Instead, we should go into our room, close the door, and pray to our Father who is in the secret place. Our Father, who sees us in secret, will lavishly reward us (vv. 4-6).

Prayer is an open invitation from God. He does not force us to pray to Him. God does not compel us to pray to Him. It is up to us whether we will come to Him and seek Him. We should meet with God in our room, a private place where no one but God can see us. We should focus our prayers on our God rather than on other people. The term “room” was also used in ancient Greek to refer to a storage where treasures were kept. This could mean that when we pray in our room or prayer closet, God’s treasures await us.

Let us pray in any situation.
