Pursue Righteousness Above Wealth - Daily Devotion

Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor. - Proverbs 21:21

Today’s Bible Reading: Romans 3:21-31

The book of Proverbs is a gift from God to all of us. The last verses of Proverbs 21 serve as a wake-up call for how we should live. God wants us to have wealth and abundance, yet we sometimes want it more than God. We are so obsessed with wealth that we have forgotten who our true source is. These temporary things are becoming our idols.

God equipped us with the ability to prosper. It is wiser to pursue righteousness above wealth. A person who seeks God’s righteousness and love have life, prosperity, and dignity. We all fall short of God’s glory. Every single one of us is a sinner. Without Christ, we will never be righteous. According to Romans 3:25-26, God offered Christ as an atoning sacrifice through the shedding of his blood, to be received by faith. He did it to show his righteousness at the present time, to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Our world’s demands are insurmountable. Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.” Let us choose to rest in the love, righteousness, mercy, and forgiveness God has promised to those who believe and accept Christ’s righteousness, rather than to keep up with the world.

Let us realign our hearts with the will of God.
