But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. — Matthew 6:33
How do you order your priorities? The rule of thumb in our lives should be to put God first. It doesn’t only mean putting God at the top of our to-do list; it also means prioritizing the kingdom of God in everything we do. This entails a commitment to seek out and do God’s will in accordance with his purpose.
Our nature is to place ourselves before all else. Our physical bodies, however, are not worthy of becoming the center of our life, as Jesus reminds us. Seeking God first does not put our focus on ourselves with getting—our needs, wants, desires, or satisfaction—instead, we respond to God’s giving. He offers heavenly richness, rest in divine sustenance, and the realization of man’s highest purpose—fellowship with Him and membership in His kingdom.
The habit of seeking God first breaks the habit of worrying as we replace worries with worship. Because we choose to surrender and allow God to move into our situation, it also establishes a deeper and stronger relationship with God.
Put God’s kingdom first- God will take care of these things!
