Radically Generous

Radically Generous

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ -Acts 20:35

Read Acts 20:32-35

Why is it difficult for everyone to be generous?

We are not generous because we are afraid—fearful that what remains after we give will not be enough to meet our needs, fearful that we will be empty. Our dread of scarcity overcomes our confidence in God’s provision and paralyzes our ability to give. It leads to a life that emphasizes our personal benefit, with a strong desire for self-preservation.

When God is more real in our hearts, we will not look to our savings for security. We recognize only God can provide us with stability. As Christians, we should make it second nature to find security in God’s love rather than in our current circumstances. Because of God’s final show of love on the cross through Jesus Christ, we can have faith in God.

Let us not be scared whenever we use our time or money by giving it away. They will not be gone. Money will always be there. Don’t forget that we have a rich Father in heaven and we are only the managers of his riches here on earth, so we should manage it well. ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).’ God promises that the more generous we are, the more we will be given. Remembering that God is our primary source, we can become radically generous.

I have a big God!
