Rebuilding the Temple
Today's Daily Devotion - September 22 2022
By Khai Samante
With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. — Ezra 3:11
As the Jews return from exile in Babylon to the Promised Land, they will go through a huge transition to relearn how to live in a covenant with God again. Israel also needs physical restoration by the people of God and, more than that, they must renew their spiritual covenant with God. Because of Ezra’s concern about worship, He stresses the importance of rebuilding the temple. As the foundation of the house of the Lord was being laid, all the people gave a great shout of praise to God. They praised God and sang songs of thanksgiving to Him.
Things may have been tough for you lately. You’ve been through a lot of storms. I hope and pray that you will again find refuge under the wings of God. Despite all of life’s difficulties, there are endless reasons to praise and thank God. The ruins of the past are behind you, and God’s destiny is ahead of you. Indeed, God is good all the time! Come to God today, surrender all your problems, and believe that He is for you and not against you.
Thank you, Lord, for everything!
