Sanctification Through and Through - Daily Devotion

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. — 1 Thessalonians 5:23

The word sanctification literally means “to set aside.” It’s about creating something unique and distinctive, breaking old patterns and developing new ones. God’s work within us is sanctification. It implies that we must rely entirely on God and not live in a self-sufficient and self-sustaining manner.

We can pray to the Lord to heal us from unforgiveness and past wounds, to heal areas of our lives that are not pleasing to Him, and even to help us in forgiving ourselves. Have trust that God is at work in your life as you discover places that require God’s healing and sanctification. God will complete your healing in His own time and in His own way.

Smile, breathe, and love. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
