A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. - Proverbs 25:28
Read Proverbs 25:24-28
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, self-control is a restraint exercised over one’s own impulses, emotions, or desires. Self-control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It pertains to our passions, our desires, and our will. Lack of self-control always leads to impulsive decisions. According to our scripture today, a person as such is like a city broken into and left without walls. It means it is a city without defense against enemies.
In which area of life are you lacking in self-control? It can be in our lifestyle disciplines. It is not enough to just wish and pray for a healthy mind, body, and soul. Discipline with the food we eat and with our daily activities is important too. We can likewise have a lack of self-control with our emotions. When we let our emotions call the shots, it can disrupt our stability and make us vulnerable because we only let our feelings lead us.
Have a heart check today while asking God to reveal to you the areas of your life which needs His light.
Let the Holy Spirit control you.
