And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. — 2 John 1:6
Read 2 John 1
Action, according to Mark Twain, speaks louder than words. This conveys the idea that you should put what you preach into practice. What we say should be mirrored in what we do. I would say proclamation is significantly inferior to a demonstration.
The Bible makes it perfectly clear that we can define love through our actions. Just as we’ve heard from the beginning, God has instructed us to love one another. Moms can sacrifice quality sleep for their newborn baby. A dad can sacrifice a hangout night with friends to spend quality time with His kids. Love is selfless. We obey God’s commandments because love Him. We do this not because we believe His commands are burdensome, but because they are the most beneficial to us. They are God’s guides and gifts to us. And God expects us to act our love from His love as His children. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7).
On the cross, Jesus Christ showed His love for us. He gave His life in order to save us. God revealed His love for us, hence we can express our love through His grace.
Lead with love!
