Sole Aim of Our Faith June 2 2022

“The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NLV)

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:19-28

Although faith is simple, it is not always easy. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is characterized by confidence or trust. The Bible teaches that God and His promises are the sole aim of our faith. However, do you agree that embracing God’s promises and anchoring our faith to His Truth might feel risky and vulnerable at times?

We wonder if His words also apply to our situation. We are concerned that if God does not deliver, we will be disappointed. It is natural for humans to be skeptical and self-protective. However, keep in mind that these might ignite our doubts and kill our faith in God. Apostle Paul writes, “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:20-21). Faith, according to this verse, entails placing our trust in God and believing that he will keep his promises.

Our faith in God’s Word is founded on our knowledge of His character. Let us spend more time in prayer and devotional time with God whenever we sense our faith in God is waning. Learn about God through studying His Word, listening quietly for His voice, and asking the Holy Spirit to help you become more sensitive to His presence.

Lord, help me in my unbelief.
