Spirit in the Sky

Recently I was volunteering at a local bike shop and decided to put on some music through YouTube. After a few familiar songs, the Lord picked an oldie yet goodie- “Spirit in the Sky.” I haven’t heard that song for many years and with its upbeat rhythm and message, I thanked God for His signal of grace.

Please allow me to share some of the uplifting verses: “I got a friend in Jesus…so that you know when you die, He is going to set me up with the Spirit in the sky. When I die and they lay me to rest, I am going to go to the place that is the best. Going up to the Spirit in the sky.”

I was humming this song the rest of the day and the Holy Spirit prompted me to use this song title as the theme for our upcoming gala celebrating spiritual, social and song. Indeed, the “Spirit in the Sky” all for the glory of God!
