Talk to God, Jesus Did! - Daily Devotion

Call to me and I will answer you; I will tell to you things great beyond reach of your knowledge. — Jeremiah 33: 3

Today’s Bible Reading: Jeremiah 33:1-11

The prophet Jeremiah was imprisoned by Zedekiah king of Judah for his faithfulness to God. He was considered a traitor to Judah and Jerusalem by prophesying that the king of Babylon would be given Jerusalem. Zedekiah had been presented a tremendous opportunity to right the wrongs of his predecessor’s: two brothers and nephew yet would not submit to the Lord. As a result, he lost his sons, his sight, his freedom, and his throne.

Through it all God was faithful to do what He promised. He carried out the judgment He had declared, but He also brought about the restoration some seventy years later when Cyrus, king of Persia (successor to the Babylonian Empire), declared that all the Jewish exiles who wanted to return to Jerusalem might do so, and they could take with them all the implements of the temple.

We serve a powerful and amazing God who is quick to forgive and eager to restore us to live fully alive in mind, body, and spirit all for the glory of God. As we follow the example of Jesus Christ with humility, love, and forgiveness, we are joyfully inspired to submit to the will of God.
