Testing is Testing

Testing is testing

It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees.
The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.
Psalm 119:71-72

Read Psalm 119:65-72

We despise suffering and difficulties. We wish to stay away from life’s affliction as much as possible. But, as I reflect on all the afflictions I’ve had, I realize I have no regrets about any of them. Like what Hebrews 12:11 says, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” We may look back on our experiences later in life and see how they all fit together to make us whole and help us learn, mature, and progress.

Testing is testing, and chastening is chastening. If they don’t hurt or press us, they aren’t doing their job. Life’s difficulties can teach us a lot. It teaches us trust, humility, and dependence on God. It also helps us to love others. So, rather than focusing on the painful process, we should fix our gaze on Jesus and look at the result of the affliction. As we go through the process, Jesus will provide for us, sustain us, and help us endure. He will be with us and will never leave us.

Jesus, thank you for suffering on my behalf.
